German Public Broadcaster ARD Ends Boxing Coverage In Fifth Round To Show Movie
German public broadcaster ARD "has prematurely ended the broadcast of a boxing fight," according to Manuel Weis of QUOTENMETER. The channel "showed the light heavyweight fight between Bernard Hopkins and Karo Mura live from Atlanta on Sunday morning." However, in the middle of the fifth round ARD "interrupted the fight and showed an old movie from the '70s instead." Despite being informed about the the fight's delay, ARD "stuck to its orginal schedule and started the movie, 'Cannonball,' shortly before 4:15am." German viewers therefore missed Hopkins' victory by unanimous decision (QUOTENMETER, 10/27).
