Football Notes: FIFA To Extend Football For Health Program In CONCACAF Region

FIFA Chief Medical Officer Jiri Dvorak announced an extension of the Football for Health program in the CONCACAF region "with three new pilot initiatives to be undertaken in countries from the three language groups in the region -- English, Spanish and French" (INSIDE WORLD FOOTBALL, 10/22). ... Worawi Makudi defeated Virach Charnpanich in Thursday's election to retain the FAT presidency, "but Virach and his supporters have since complained of foul play." Three of the five members of the commission Tuesday "submitted their report on the election to the Sports Authority of Thailand." They are Chair Pol Maj Gen Pisut Pumpichet, Chanin Kaenhiran and Thana Thamvihan (BANGKOK POST, 10/23). ... Reports in the Italian Press suggest that UEFA has reversed its "decision to close Lazio's Stadio Olimpico." The European governing body decided to shut the capital stadium for the Biancocelesti's clash with Apollon Limassol on Nov. 7 "because of incidents of racist chanting last season." But Lazio news 24 has revealed that UEFA has "overturned that decision for the match in Rome during their next home Europa League clash" (FOOTBALL ITALIA, 10/23).
