Bayern Munich CEO Warns Mario Götze Not To Be Manipulated By His Sponsors
Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Götze has been warned by club CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge not to be manipulated by his sponsors, according to SPORT BILD. Asked if he thought there is intent behind Götze's several wrong wardrobe choices, Rummenigge said, "It's possible, I don't know. Maybe there's intent from his private sponsor to anger an opponent. I could imagine that. But he shouldn't allow himself to be used. That would be my advice for him." Götze wore a Nike shirt during his first press conference with Bayern, and during the recent int'l break he was again pictured wearing Nike apparel instead of adidas, which is the official sponsor of both Bayern Munich and the German national team (SPORT BILD, 10/16).
