German public broadcaster ARD "received outstanding ratings for its broadcast of Tuesday's World Cup qualifier between Germany and the Faroe Islands," according to Sidney Schering of QUOTENMETER. A total of 10.45 million viewers tuned in at 8:45pm to watch the game. The number translated into a market share of 34.2%. In the target demographic 14-49, Germany's 3-0 victory attracted 3.8 million viewers and had a 32.2% share. Ahead of the football game broadcast, ARD aired the live announcement of the IOC presidential election results in its "Sportschau" program at 8:20pm. The election of Germany's Thomas Bach as ninth IOC president attracted 5.41 million viewers, including 1.82 million in the target demographic.
