Franchise Notes: Madrid Judge Denies La Liga Getafe's €3.5M Subsidy Demand From '10
A Madrid judge has denied La Liga side Getafe's petition that demanded a subsidy payment of €3.5M from the Getafe city council in '10. Getafe President Ángel Torres' petition "cited a failure to fulfill the agreement reached in '10, which would have paid the team €3.5M through '14, not the €1.5M subsidy FC Getafe was granted in '11" (AS, 9/10). ... The judge presiding over Spanish second division side Deportivo La Coruña's bankruptcy case ruled that "Deportivo's bankruptcy administrator will have to reclassify the team's debt" with the Spanish Tax Agency (AEAT), which initially classified the debt as "privileged." Deportivo's debt with the Spanish Tax Agency has been settled at €93M ($123M) but of this amount, €63M ($83M) "will be reclassified as not privileged debt" (EP, 9/9).
