ZDF Scores High Ratings With Broadcast Of Germany-Austria World Cup Qualifier

German public broadcaster ZDF "attracted more than 10 million viewers to its broadcast of the World Cup qualifier between Germany and Austria on Friday," according to Jens Schröder of MEEDIA. The game, which Germany won 3-0, was watched by an average of 10.49 million viewers. The number translated into a market share of 38.5%. In the target demographic 14-49, ZDF attracted 3.59 million viewers and had a 36.9% share. The pre- and post-game coverage was watched by a combined 6.33 million viewers and reached a 27.5% share (MEEDIA, 9/7).

WOMEN'S BUNESLIGA: QUOTENMETER's David Grzeschik reported pan-European broadcaster Eurosport "recorded great ratings for its broadcast of the women's Bundesliga game between VfL Wolfsburg and Bayern Munich." Eurosport, which recently secured the women's Bundesliga rights, attracted 150,000 viewers to its broadcast on Saturday. The game, which started at 1pm, obtained a 1.6% market share. In the target demographic, the 1-1 draw was watched by 50,000 viewers and had a 1.4% share (QUOTENMETER, 9/8).

HANDBALL BUNDESLIGA: QUOTENMETER's Grzeschik also reported German free-to-air TV channel Sport1 "attracted 220,000 viewers to its broadcast of the Handball Bundesliga game between HSV Hamburg and THW Kiel" on Saturday at 3pm. The number translated into a 2.2% market share. In the target demographic, the game, which Kiel won 32-26, obtained a 1.9% share (QUOTENMETER, 9/8).
