League Notes: Indonesia National Sports Committee Recognizes Rugby Union As Sport

Rugby players and supporters in Jakarta "were in a celebratory mood as the Indonesia National Sports Committee officially recognized rugby union as a national sport during a ceremony in Jakarta on Wednesday last week" (JAKARTA GLOBE, 9/2). ... The Indian Boxing Federation on Monday "formed a three-member disciplinary committee to look into the allegations of manipulation in the World Championship trials, levelled by three boxers who were not picked for the event" (PTI, 9/2). ... Pakistan "did not play in the inaugural Hockey India League and it is extremely unlikely that they will also feature in the next year's event" as Pakistan Hockey Federation is reluctant to send its field hockey players to India "because of the current tension prevailing between the two nations" (PTI, 9/2).
