Manchester City Denies Interest In A-League Club Western Sydney Wanderers

Man City has "issued a complete denial of ever showing interest in buying" A-League club Western Sydney Wanderers, according to Tom Smithies of the Sydney DAILY TELEGRAPH. Dismissing media reports of the past two days, which claimed Man City "had sought the prospectus being issued to potential bidders." A Man City spokesperson said that the club had "no interest whatsoever" in buying the Wanderers, as Football Federation Australia seeks a A$15M ($13.5M) buyer for the nascent club. A variety of potential suitors "had been linked with Western Sydney, with the sale being handled by merchant bank UBS." When asked about the reports that the EPL side was one of those suitors, a Man City spokesperson said, "Contrary to media reports in Australia, Manchester City Football Club has expressed no interest whatsoever in the purchase of any stake in the Western Sydney Wanderers" (DAILY TELEGRAPH, 8/27).
