ZDF Scores 'Convincing' Ratings For IAAF World Championships Broadcast On Tuesday

German public broadcaster ZDF "recorded convincing ratings for its broadcast of the 2013 IAAF World Championships on Tuesday," according to Manuel Nunez Sanchez of QUOTENMETER. Starting at 5:05pm, ZDF showed the men's discus throw competition, which was won by German Robert Harting, and attracted an average of 2.9 million viewers. The number translated into a market share of 21.3%. In the target demographic 14-49, the event obtained a 12.1% share. Following the discus competition, the channel aired the women's pole vault competition, which was watched by 3.57 million viewers and had a 19% market share as well as an 11.2% share in the target demographic. Between 6-7pm, the competition attracted 3.89 million viewers and reached a market share of 24.4% and 22.9% as well as 13.6% and 13.7% in the target demographic. After a short news break, ZDF aired the women's 3,000m steeplechase at 7:25pm. A total of 4.08 million viewers tuned in to watch the race. The number equaled an 18.2% share and 11.4% share in the target demographic. At 7:50pm, the men's 400m race was watched by 4.04 million viewers and after 8pm the men's 800m race attracted 3.37 million viewers. The numbers equaled a market share of 8% overall and in the target audience (QUOTENMETER, 8/14).
