Former Footballer Ian Wright To Front Football Show On New Online TV Channel The Sun FC

The Sun newspaper "has signed former England and Arsenal footballer Ian Wright as the main presenter of its new Sky Sports News-style show, called The Sun FC," according to Mark Sweney of the London GUARDIAN. Wright "will front a weekday and Saturday show on The Sun FC," the new online TV channel that forms part of Sun+, the newspaper's £2 ($3)-a-week online subscription service. Wright, who has worked with the Sun as a columnist for six years, "will front a weekday TV show" that will air from 4:30pm starting on Monday. The weekday show will "tackle the day's biggest football stories," and he will also have a Saturday show starting this week. The publisher described Wright as the "main presenter" of the new service, with his appointment a TV comeback of sorts after he "was axed as co-host of Channel 5's Live from Studio Five in 2010 following Richard Desmond's takeover of the broadcaster" (GUARDIAN, 8/14).
