League Notes: South African Rugby Union To Introduce Racial Quotas Next Year

The South African Rugby Union "will introduce a racial quota system in its domestic competition next year to encourage more black players to emerge through the ranks." Starting next year, teams participating in the Vodacom Cup "will have to field seven black players in their 22-man squad, five of whom must be fielded among the starters and two of whom must be forwards" (REUTERS, 8/14). ... Wrestling's governing body FILA "has delayed Turkey's Riza Kayaalp's suspension for racism, announcing that the case will be reviewed after next month's World Championships" (XINHUA, 8/14). ... Brazilian women's volleyball player Natalia has been banned for 60 days by Brazil's sports tribunal for doping. Natalia tested positive for a banned substance during a national league match in March (XINHUA, 8/14).
