Judge Suspects Connection Between Police, Violent Boca Juniors Fan Gang
Argentine judge Manuel De Campos, who is reviewing a case including 15 charges against Argentine first division side Boca Juniors barra brava (football gang) La Doce, has "proof of a connection between at least two police officers and La Doce leaders," according to Gustavo Yarroch of CLARIN. On Tuesday, De Campos "ordered a search warrant that the Argentine federal police executed to confiscate 18 computers, cell phones and documents." The two police officers accused of collaborating with La Doce belong to the Athletic Events Division of the federal police, which organizes sporting events. Names "were not released." The "subject is so complex that the judge decided to separate the Events Division officers from the investigation into the the rest of the charges against the 'barra' because of the suspected connection between the members of that division and the leaders of La Doce" (CLARIN, 8/7).
