Gulf Top 6 rugby side Abu Dhabi Harlequins "have become the first UAE club to appoint an Arabic-speaking director of rugby," having recruited former Jordan player GHAITH JALAJEL for the role. Jalajel "will travel to the capital from Amman next week to take up the newly restructured, full-time position at Quins" (THE NATIONAL, 7/18). ... German coach WINFRIED SCHÄFER "has been hired to lead Jamaica through its 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign." The Jamaica Football Federation said that the 63-year-old Schäfer, who replaces 1998 World Cup player THEODORE WHITMORE, has "an impressive resume" (AP, 7/18). ... Serie A side Udinese coach FRANCESCO GUIDOLIN "has extended his contract" through the end of the '16-17 season. Guidolin has been at Udinese since '10 (AP, 7/19). ... Former Argentine footballer JUAN BARBAS has been hired to coach Argentine B club San Jorge (CLARIN, 7/18).
