Ligue 1 Paris St. Germain Sporting Dir LEONARDO "has resigned from his position after two years following a season-long ban." A club statement read, "The club management regrets this decision but respects it. We thank him for his great contributions toward the project of building a top European club and wish him all the best for his future career." Leonardo "will officially step down at the end of the transfer period on Sept. 2" (LE PARISIEN, 7/10). The PA reported Leonardo's influence over new Manager LAURENT BLANC "was always likely to be diluted by the increased ban he received from the French Football Federation" for allegedly pushing referee ALEXANDRE CASTRO following a match against Valenciennes on May 5. Leonardo was initially handed a nine-month ban but, after a failed appeal, it was increased last week to expire on June 30, "during which time he could not be present on the touchline or enter referees' dressing rooms" (PA, 7/10). ... Sports & Entertainment company Legends Chair & CEO DAVE CHECKETTS announced Wednesday that SHERVIN MIRHASHEMI has joined the company as president and COO. Mirhashemi was most recently president of AEG's Global Partnership division (Legends). ... Shah has held senior positions for Mars, KPMG and Ernst & Young, and has also been an adviser to the Cabinet Office, Commonwealth Business Council and HSBC (Swindon Town).
