F1 CEO Bernie Ecclestone Retracts Statements To Buy Bankrupt Nürburgring Circuit
F1 CEO Bernie Ecclestone "has retracted statements in which he proclaimed interest in acquiring the bankrupt Nürburgring," according to the SID. The 82-year-old said, "I thought about it, but it isn't practical for me. I hope that someone will buy the Nürburgring because we love to come here. Especially because we have been coming here for a long time." On Friday, Ecclstone made statements that "he might be interested in buying the whole racetrack." He said, "I've heard the Nürburgring is up for sale. It is quite possible that I will buy it. I'm at least thinking about it" (SID, 7/7).
