Event Notes: Messi's Charity Game In Lima To Raffle Off Tickets

A charity friendly featuring Lionel Messi, the Friends of Messi vs. Rest of the World match, will be played on July 2 at Lima, Peru's National Stadium. The organizers have prepared a contest in which they will award 10 contestants with pairs of tickets to the game. To announce the contest, a video was recorded featuring "attractive Peruvian fans" asking fans to submit pictures and videos (SPORT, 6/16). ... The Li-Ning Singapore Open badminton tournament, which begins on Tuesday at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, has been hit by a string of player withdrawals. A total of 10 new withdrawals were announced "during a team managers' meeting at Swissotel the Stamford on Monday" (STRAITS TIMES, 6/17).
