Int'l Power Boating Union President RAFFAELE CHIULLI was elected president of the Association of IOC Recognized Int'l Sports Federations on Monday. ARISF "includes seven of the eight sports seeking a spot in the 2020 Olympics" (AP, 5/27).

COACHES: Barcelona's Alevin C coach ALEX GÓMEZ COMES is the new coach of Hong Kong First Division side Kitchee. Comes has experience with Barcelona and other Spanish clubs, including his current position as head coach of the club's youth organization (SPORT, 5/28). ... Former Chelsea coach RAFAEL BENÍTEZ "has been confirmed as the new manager" of Serie A club Napoli by club President AURELIO DE LAURENTIIS. De Laurentiis referred to Benítez as "a great man" and "a leader" after announcing that the former Chelsea interim manager would replace WALTER MAZZARRI at the Stadio San Paolo (PA, 5/27). ... Ligue 1 club AC Ajaccio coach ALBERT EMON is leaving his job "after refusing to renew his contract" (EUROSPORT, 5/28). ... Former UAE Football League Club Al Dhafra Manager LAURENT BANIDE was officially introduced as Al Wasl's new manager on Tuesday "after he signed a two-year deal with the club." Banide becomes Wasl's sixth manager in 10 months, replacing outgoing EID BAROOT, "the Emirati who in February joined the club on an interim basis" (THE NATIONAL, 5/28).

Motorcyclist YOSHINARI MATSUSHITA "was killed during qualifying at the Isle of Man TT" in the U.K. The 43-year-old Tyco Suzuki rider "died after an incident late on Monday at Ballacrye on the north of the island," which lies in the Irish Sea between the British mainland and Ireland (AFP, 5/29). ...  Former Ukraine pole vaulter SERGEI BUBKA "entered the crowded IOC presidential race Tuesday, citing his youthful energy and experience as an Olympic champion as key ingredients in his bid for the top job." Bubka became the sixth, "and likely final, contender" (AP, 5/28). ... Int'l Cycling Union President PAT MCQUAID and Bubka were "both re-elected" to the Association of Summer Olympic Int'l Fedrations Council while Int'l Boxing Association President C.K. WU was voted onto the council for the first time (UCI). ... ManU Manager DAVID MOYES will bring former Everton captain PHIL NEVILLE back to ManU as a member of his coaching team. The Islamabad High Court barred newly elected Pakistan Cricket Board Chair ZAKA ASHRAF from "working on objections over his election as PCB chief for the next four years." PCB regional member AHMED NADEEM SUDDLE stated in his plea that Ashraf "has been elected through unfair and non-transparent means" (NNI, 5/28). ... Croatian BOJAN BOGDANOVIC will play for the NBA Brooklyn Nets next year. Bogdanovic's move from Fenerbahce Ulker in Turkey "will become official July 1" (MARCA, 5/28).

POLICE BLOTTER: La Liga Real Betis striker RUBÉN CASTRO has been arrested in Seville, Spain "on suspicion of having assaulted a former girlfriend." The 31-year-old was arrested by police after the club's training session on Monday (AP, 5/28). ... A Seville court has opened an investigation into former ACB coach MANEL COMAS "on suspicion of continued sexual abuse against two girls in '08," when Comas was coaching Spanish Basketball League (ACB) side Sevilla (EFE, 5/28). ... Spanish police believe the murders of former Dutch volleyball player INGRID VISSER and her boyfriend, LODEWIJK SEVERIN "may have been business-related."
