AS Roma Will Be Forced To Close South Stand Due To Racist Chanting; Inter Fined

AS Roma "will be forced to close" the south stand for one game after racist chanting, while Inter Milan has been fined €50,000 ($65,000), according to FOOTBALL ITALIA. Despite stepping out on to the field ahead of Roma-Napoli on Sunday wearing anti-racism shirts, a section of the ultras in the Curva Sud "were again heard hurling racist abuse at opposition players." Rather than order an entire game behind closed doors, the Disciplinary Commission ruled Roma "must play their next home match with an empty Curva Sud -- the section where the ultras sit." This will be for the first Serie A match of next season, and not this Sunday’s Coppa Italia Final between Roma and Lazio (FOOTBALL ITALIA, 5/20).
