Football Notes: Indonesia FA Fined $15K For 'Repeated Crowd Infringements'

The Indonesia FA has been fined $15,000 "for repeated crowd infringements" at int'l matches. The PSSI were fined $10,000 after fans "ignited firecrackers and threw water bottles" during Indonesia's March 23 Asian Cup home qualifier against Saudi Arabia, with the additional $5,000 a result of "similar incidents during four matches last year" (EUROSPORT, 5/20). ... Italy national team Manager Cesare Prandelli has "claimed that Italian football has a 'problem' with racism." Prandelli: "It is a general problem in Italian football. To be a credible footballing nation, we must not tolerate it any more" (FOOTBALL ITALIA, 5/20). ... The FA announced that it will be supporting the 2013 UK Asian Community Cup. The festival acts as a showcase for amateur Asian teams, with the final taking place at EPL West Ham's Upton Park (FA). ... La Liga Sevilla President José María del Nido has "asked for forgiveness for what happened at the end of the game his team lost to Real Sociedad on Saturday, when he raised the volume of Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán's speakers to a deafening level to drown out the protests of fans," according to AS. In an announcement he signed, Del Nido called it "a regrettable error" and confirmed that as club president, he "is conscious of the anger of many of the fans in attendance" (AS, 5/20).
