DFB Wants To Extend Contract With Berlin To Host German Cup Final Beyond '15
The German Football Federation (DFB) "wants to extends its contract with Berlin" to host the DFB-Pokalfinale (German Cup Final) beyond '15, according to the SID. DFB General Secretary Helmut Sandrock said, "There is a huge interest from our side to extend the contract [with Berlin] beyond 2015." Berlin Mayor Klaus Wowereit replied to Sandrock's comment by saying, "That sounds very promising. We are also interested." The federation "is expected to hold talks with the Berlin Senate about a contract extension over the course of the year." Every now and then there have been calls form the Bundesliga "to change the final's modus from a single game to a first and second leg competion" known from the Champions League. Sandrock: "We want to have a single game. The game's success lies in its simplicity" (BERLINER MORGENPOST, 5/7).
