Event Notes: Germany Gets '16 ICF Canoe Marathon World Championships

The Int'l Canoe Federation has awarded the 2016 ICF Canoe Marathon World Championships to the German Canoe Federation (DKV). The world championships will take place in Brandenburg an der Havel, which is located in Northeast Germany (DKV). ... The Tel Aviv municipality announced that it is "canceling the full marathon scheduled to take place on Friday," after the death of a runner at the half-marathon last Friday (XINHUA, 3/19). ... After Sri Lanka Cricket Players' Association "expressed concerns over ongoing attacks" against Sri Lankan nationals in Tamil Nadu, Indian Premier League Commissioner Rajeev Shukla said that there is "no threat to the upcoming mega-tournament," scheduled to start on April 3 (PTI, 3/19).
