Historic Deal Will See Ligue 1 Broadcast Live On Free-To-Air TV In Senegal
The French Professional Football League (LFP) revealed Senegalese broadcaster Radio Dunyaa Vision has acquired the rights to show Ligue 1 matches in Senegal in a deal running through the end of the '14-15 season. RDV will show one match live on Friday nights (17:30 GMT) and a weekly highlights show of 52 minutes. The agreement sees Ligue 1 continue to develop its global reach, especially in sub-Saharan Africa. Currently Canal+ Afrique, Setanta Africa, Zuku TV, Sartimes and TV5 Monde comprise the other broadcasters of Ligue 1 in sub-Saharan Africa (LFP). EUROSPORT noted it will be "the first time in the history" of Senegal that the Ligue 1 will be shown live on free-to-air TV. Terms of the deal "were not disclosed." Friday's game between Rennes and St. Etienne will be the first game shown by RDV (EUROSPORT, 3/7).
