Confederations Cup Prize Money To See 14% Increase From South Africa Edition
FIFA has increased the prize money for the 2013 Confederations Cup, according to PORTAL 2014. The event will see FIFA award $20M in prize money, a 14% increase from the South Africa edition in '09. The country that wins this summer's tournament will receive $4.1M. Second place will be awarded $3.6M and third place $3M. Even teams knocked out in the group stage will receive $1.7M. The field for the tournament includes Brazil, Spain, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Nigeria, Uruguay and Tahiti (PORTAL 2014, 2/15).
