BT Eyes BBC Radio Commentator John Murray To Join Jake Humphrey For EPL Coverage
BT Sport is "understood to be looking to the BBC" for its main commentator after persuading Jake Humphrey to front its Premier League coverage, according to Charles Sale of the London DAILY MAIL. Radio 5 Live’s John Murray, who has the lead microphone role for the main radio football match on the flagship Saturday program, "could be set to join Humphrey." Murray "is high on the wishlist of BT." BT is paying £738M ($1.2B) over three seasons while Sky is paying £2.28B ($3.6B) for its rights. One man "set to stay at the BBC is Gary Lineker." The "Match of the Day" presenter "is expected to sign a new contract" (DAILY MAIL, 1/29).
