League Notes: DFL Awards Match Data Collection Contract To Opta And Hego Trac

The German Football League (DFL), the commercial arm of the Bundesliga, has awarded sports data companies Opta Sport Daten AG and Hego Trac AB with the contract to collect match data of the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga starting with the '13-14 season. The contract runs through the end of the '16-17 season (DFL). ... World Touring Car Championship officials "try hard to put their racing series on the TV screens of two core countries -- the U.S. and Russia." Eurosport Events, a WTCC partner, Motorsport Development Dir Francois Ribeiro said, "We are currently in talks with important networks in both countries." In addition, the series "wants to expand its coverage in Japan, which is a logical consequence as Honda enters the WTCC in '13." Ribeiro added that "the goal is to make the WTCC a topic on TV in the most-important automotive markets" (MOTORSPORT TOTAL, 1/6).
