AEG Facilities Partners With Atlético Paranaense To Manage World Cup Stadium

Brasileiro club Atlético Paranaense revealed AEG Facilities as the company that will manage the club's new Arena da Baixada stadium, according to Lucas Turco of MAQUINA DO ESPORTE. The contract is for 10 years, but terms of the deal "were not disclosed." The new stadium, scheduled to host World Cup matches, is currently under construction with a completion date of June. After its completion, the arena "will have a capacity of 43,981 for game day matches and close to 60,000 for shows." AEG Facilities will also manage the Arena Olimpica, an indoor stadium with a capacity of 9,200 that will be built next to the Arena da Baixada. Atlético Paranaense President Mario Celso Petraglia said, "The arrival of AEG as partner in the management of the club's arena will give us certainty that the complex that the club is building for the city of Curitiba will be utilized throughout the year. AEG has expertise in organizing events of all kinds -- music, cultural, corporate -- giving the club certainty of important revenue streams from the complex" (MAQUINA DO ESPORTE, 11/29).
