EDWIN VAN DER SAR has been named marketing director of Eredivisie club Ajax Amsterdam. The former goalkeeper joins a number of former players that were brought up at the club and now occupy "important positions." FRANK DE BOER is the coach, MARC OVERMARS the sporting director, and DENNIS BERGKAMP and WIM JONK are part of the technical staff (L'EQUIPE, 11/19). MICHAEL KINSBERGEN will also join the club as managing director. In a statement, Ajax CEO HANS WEIJERS said, "Van der Sar had a fantastic career and also has natural leadership and therefore the potential to be our managing director in the future. Kinsbergen will lead the board and organization in the coming years and also guide Van der Sar in his further development" (REUTERS, 11/19).

MORE TRANSACTIONS: Golf Australia has named ROBERT CROSBY and JILL SPARGO to its board. Crosby is a former board member of Golf South Australia, while Spargo has been a board member of Women's Golf Victoria and Golf Victoria, serving on a range of governance committees (Golf Australia). ... Int'l Canoe Federation President JOSE PERURENA LOPEZ has been re-elected after he was the sole candidate for the position. Treasurer LUCIANO BUONFIGLIO, Chairs FRANK GARNER, JEAN-MICHEL PRONO, JORN CRONBERG and JOHN EDWARDS "all went unchallenged and retained their positions" (ICF). ... Former Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court ANIL DEV SINGH "will head the election commission of the Indian Olympic Association." Justice Singh "will succeed S.Y. QURAISHI, who resigned as the chairman of the panel Saturday." The appointment "was made by the IOA acting President VIJAY KUMAR MALHOTRA" (THE HINDU, 11/19).
