Ferrer, Robredo Added To Federer Gillette Tour Field In São Paulo

The Gillette Federer Tour revealed that "an additional day" will be added to the event along with the presence of two more tennis players from the ATP tour, according to GAZETAESPORTIVA.net. The event, staged in the Ginásio do Ibirapuera in São Paulo, Brazil will be played from Dec. 6-9. World No. 5 David Ferrer and his Spanish compatriot Tommy Robredo were added to the field, which already includes Roger Federer, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Maria Sharapova, Serena Williams, Victoria Azarenka and Caroline Wozniacki (GAZETAESPORTIVA.net, 10/31).  AGENCY DO ESTADO reported that the event in São Paulo was created "due to the enormous interest" in the sport from Brazilians. Ferrer will play against Federer on Dec. 9 and is looking forward to playing in São Paulo. Ferrer said, "I think it's going to be really great, I am anxious for the competition. I have never been to São Paulo. Also, it will be great for the fans to see Federer on the court, a man that to me is the best in history" (AGENCY DO ESTADO, 10/30).
