Facility Notes: Smoking Ban In Italy's Sports Stadiums Mulled

Smoking could soon be banned in sports stadiums in Italy if "the interior ministry has its way." Plans are in the works to "introduce a smoking ban for the '13-14 season at facilities where professional leagues play" (ANSA.it, 9/27). ... Excavator manufacturer JCB opened a £60M ($97.3M) factory in Brazil to build on strong Olympic demand. JCB "is aiming to capitalize on the strong construction sector in the country" ahead of the 2014 Wold Cup and the '16 Olympics (THEBUSINESSDESK.com, 9/27). ... Deutsche Bahn’s int'l consultancy arm "is setting up a new national company in South America to take advantage of Brazil’s boom in infrastructure projects." DB International Brasil, which will be based out of Rio De Janeiro, "will handle contracts won by DB as part of preparations for the 2014 World Cup and '16 Olympic and Paralympic Games" (RAILWAYPEOPLE.com, 9/26). ... Indore Development Authority CEO Deepak Singh said that the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association has "asked for 35 acres of land on super corridor for developing state-of-the-art int'l stadium." He added that the authority "is willing to give land for the proposed sport complex" (TNN, 9/27).
