Following the death last week of Professor SID WATKINS, "a number of tributes to his memory have been arranged" for this weekend's 2012 F1 Singtel Singapore Grand Prix. On Sunday, before the start of the race, F1 CEO BERNIE ECCLESTONE has invited those on the grid "to observe a minute's silence in Watkin's honour." A bronze bust of Watkins will be on display beside the Book of Remembrance (F1). ... LOCOG Chair SEBASTIAN COE has been confirmed as the latest name to join the line-up of speakers at the Doha GOALS Forum Dec. 10-12. Coe will speak on sport's role as an agent of social change. Doha GOALS (Gathering of All Leaders in Sport) is a new initiative designed as a " call to action" for the role that sport plays as a driver for social and economic change (Doha GOALS Forum). ... The Glasgow 2014 Organizing Committee announced that actor and comedian BILLY CONNOLLY will be voicing his support for the Games as a Glasgow 2014 Ambassador. Connolly joins fellow Glasgow 2014 Ambassadors CHRIS HOY and REBECCA ADLINGTON (Glasgow 2014).

A BRIT OF ALL TRADES: British Olympic diver TOM DALEY said that the bright lights of Hollywood "would suit him just fine." Speaking before a homecoming parade in his home city of Plymouth, England to celebrate his Bronze Medal, Daley said, "At the moment, I am studying, but I would like to become a TV presenter or something along those lines. Film work, I'd love to do anything like that. I would love to try anything new really, be it star in a film or playing a small little part in something like that, that would be pretty cool" (AFP, 9/20). ... Olympic 800m champion DAVID RUDISHA will be the event ambassador of the fifth Airtel Delhi half marathon to be held on Sept. 30 in Delhi, India. Rudisha will be in attendance beginning Thursday "to promote the half marathon and encourage the participants" of the Int'l Association of Athletics Federations 'Golf Label' event (THE HINDU, 9/20).
