London Legacy Channel Will Launch A 24-Hour-A-Day Channel Featuring Olympic Sports
A new TV channel is launching in the wake of the London Games, providing coverage of sports featured at the Games including judo, gymnastics and fencing, according to Josh Halliday of the London GUARDIAN. London Legacy will be a 24-hour-a-day channel, launching in November and showing 24 Olympic sports. The channel will initially only be available to BSkyB's satellite TV customers, "but is seeking wider distribution." London Legacy is being launched by independent TV production company Highflyer and will cost them around £5.5M ($8.6M). Highflyer Chair John Fairley said the company received "very serious undertakings" to back London Legacy from two or three companies, including one Olympic sponsor (GUARDIAN, 8/20).
