Eurosport's Olympics Coverage Attracts 106 Million TV Viewers
Pan-European TV sport network Eurosport drew an overall audience of 106 million viewers during its coverage of the London Games and also "smashed all its previous online records," according to DIGITALSPY.com. Eurosport, which acted as a pay-TV Olympic rights partner to host broadcaster the BBC, "increased its average TV audience" by 80% over the two-week Games period. From July 28 to Aug. 12, 106 million different TV viewers watched the London Games on a Eurosport channel. Eurosport's global average audience during the Games was up 80% compared to the '12 average. Online, the Eurosport website "attracted nearly 5.6 million daily visitors" during the Games, up 36% from '12. The figure broke down as 4.4 million visits on the web and 1.2 million on mobile (DIGITALSPY.com, 8/14).
