The SPL And SFL Are Close To A $1.9M Deal With Sky
The Scottish Premier League and the Scottish Football League are "close to agreeing" on a £1.2M ($1.9M) deal with Sky for the rights to broadcast 45 Rangers matches over the next three seasons, according to Haggerty & McDermott of the Scotland DAILY RECORD. An announcement of the deal, which is expected to work out an average of £27,000 ($42,340) a game, is "expected within the next 48 hours." The SPL has been negotiating with Sky, ESPN and other corporate partners "trying desperately to keep them onside." They are trying to get Sky to agree on a long-term deal with them but were told that "they would need to bring Gers back into the picture" (DAILY RECORD, 7/26).
