India Football Federation Meets With IMG To Discuss IPL-Style League
IMG-Reliance had "another round of discussion" with the All India Football Federation top brass on the Indian Premier Leauge-style league which "both the stakeholders want to start next year," according to the PRESS TRUST OF INDIA. The meeting, which was held at the Heavy Industries Ministry with Praful Patel on the chair, "discussed various modalities of the proposed league," but there was "no concrete decision taken on any aspect." An AIFF source said, "It was a meeting of AIFF top officials and IMG-Reliance people on the various options and modalities of the league. No major decision which we can call a second step was taken." The IPL-style football league has been doing the rounds with the IMG-Reliance "mooting an eight team franchise-based tournament with a marquee foreign player, who is a big name in India but on the verge on retirement or just retired" (PTI, 7/19).
