Glasgow Warriors Rugby Sees 500% Surge In Season-Ticket Sales

Glasgow Warriors See Rise In Ticket Sales

After reaching the playoffs of the RaboDirect PRO12 last season, officials of the Scottish rugby team Glasgow Warriors "expected a surge in supporter interest, but even they have been taken aback by a 500% increase" in season-ticket sales compared to this time last year, according to Alasdair Reid of the HERALD SCOTLAND. The uptick in season tickets is also a "vote of confidence in Scotstoun Stadium as the club's new home." With fans originally expressing concern about the move from Firhill, club CEO Nathan Bombrys revealed that "a series of open-door events at the stadium had gone a long way toward allaying any fears." So far, 1130 fans had bought season tickets. That number is "10 short of the record" set during the '10-11 campaign. Bombrys said, "We wanted to double where we were last year, and we're on course to do that" (HERALD SCOTLAND, 6/28).
