Three Sportswear Brands Fighting For European Crown
Three sportswear brands are still in the hunt for the Euro 2012 title and additional millions in revenue, according to the DPA. Adidas has two remaining teams in the tournament --Spain and Germany -- and even a "final match between both nations is within the realm of possibilities." Portugal, which will play against Spain in the first semifinal match on June 27, has Nike as its official outfitter. Italy, which will face Germany on Thursday, will take the field in Puma jerseys. Adidas is the official supplier for six of the 16 nations at Euro 2012. Nike is second with five. Umbro has three and Puma two. Adidas pays the German Football Federation €25M ($31M) annually while the French Football Federation receives €43M ($53M) a year from Nike (DPA, 6/25).
