West Ham To Sue Italians Over Diamanti Fee
West Ham United FC will go to court next week to try and recover money owed by Italian side Brescia on the transfer of Alessandro Diamanti, according to Gary Jacob of the LONDON TIMES. Diamanti converted the winning penalty in the shoot-out against England that took Italy to the semi finals of the Euro 2012. The East London side is "thought to be owed" about £1.4M ($2.2M) by Brescia following the sale of the forward for "about £2M two years ago." West Ham was "successful in their complaint to FIFA that they were entitled to the money," but the Italian side launched a new case, which will be resolved by the Court of Arbitration in Sport on July 4 (LONDON TIMES, 6/25).
