Wealthy Most Likely To Buy Olympic Tickets

The most affluent groups in society -- those earning more than £50,000 ($78,000) a year -- are "twice as likely to have visited the London 2012 ticketing website," according to Plimmer & Kortekaas of the FINANCIAL TIMES. These groups account for 20% of the population but almost 37% of visits to the ticket site. Wealthy people in west London and the home counties were "most likely to visit," with professionals working in media and finance "especially well represented." Experian Head of Digital Analysis Robin Goad said, “When it comes to ticket sales visits and general interest in London 2012, the U.K.’s very wealthiest have a voracious appetite." Experian uses data collected from Internet service providers and overlays it with demographics to "provide aggregate information on web usage in the U.K." (FINANCIAL TIMES, 6/17).
