Angels, Anaheim Meet To Discuss Team's Future In City
Angels and Anaheim officials met for "what the city called an 'initial discussion about the future of baseball in the city.'" Anaheim Chief Communications Officer Mike Lyster said that the two sides have "yet to set another meeting date" following Friday's discussion. The Angels "face a Dec. 31 deadline to opt out" of their Angel Stadium lease or "remain bound to it" through '29. The city on Friday said the two sides “expect to continue talking and working toward progress by year’s end.” A majority of the City Council "appears determined to strike a new deal with the Angels and could extend that deadline past Dec. 31 if the two sides are making progress" (L.A. TIMES, 11/16).
