Melbourne Park To Undergo $307M Upgrade, Including New Footbridge

Victoria (Australia) Premier Denis Napthine today announced the second stage of a $306.8M (all figures U.S.) upgrade to Melbourne Park that will see a "new footbridge create a western entrance" to the tennis facility. When the redevelopment is complete, Rod Laver Arena will "have a seating capacity of 15,000 and Hisense Arena 10,500." The state government will provide "more than" $270.4M for the upgrade with the Melbourne & Olympic Parks Trust kicking in $36.3M (Melbourne HERALD SUN, 1/12).
