New York City Triathlon Uses Extra Security Measures For Today's Event
Organizers of today's Aquaphor New York City Triathlon have "rolled out a series of new security measures designed to prevent terrorist attacks similar to the bombings at this year's Boston Marathon." Within the event's "transition zone -- where participants park their bikes and store gear -- only clear plastic bags will be allowed." Race Organizer John Korff said that the added precautions "will cost organizers between $10,000 and $15,000." Approximately 5,000 participants were registered for the race, which began today at 5:50am ET (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 7/13).
