The 76ers have hired Rockets Exec VP/Basketball Operations Sam Hinkie as President & GM, according to sources. Hinkie will replace GM Tony DiLeo and "assume full control of basketball operations" (SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 5/10).

Indiana Gov. Mike Pence "signed off Friday on a bill" providing a $100M financial package for upgrades to Indianapolis Motor Speedway (INDIANAPOLIS STAR, 5/11).

Sources "forecast a conservative range" of $22-25M paid out by the Big 12 for each member school in '12-13. The conference will "formally release numbers at the league's spring meetings" May 29-31 (CBSSPORTS.com, 5/10).

The Big East's new commissioner "could be announced before league meetings" May 19-22 in West Palm Beach (INDIANAPOLIS STAR, 5/11).
