Boeheim Exchanges Heated Words With CBS' Doyel Following Loss

Syracuse basketball coach Jim Boeheim after last night's Final Four loss to Michigan engaged in a heated exchanged with CBSSports.com's Gregg Doyel. Doyel in the opening question of the coach's portion of the postgame press conference asked, "When do you think you'll decide, announce, whether or not you're coming back next year, or do you already know?" Boeheim replied, "Why would you ask that question? I expect it from you. I know you. Why ask that question?" Doyel: "We ask 19-year-old kids the same question, they handle it better than you are."

Doyel writes in a postgame column about the exchange, “It was an awkward press conference, and up to a point that’s my fault. ... My timing was bad." Boeheim later during the press conference said, “I don’t mean to be personal on anybody. Anybody that asked that question, I would have been upset.” Boeheim then said to Doyel, “I’m sorry. I apologize. It wasn’t you” (CBSSPORTS.com, 3/7). Doyel today tweeted, ""My goal wasn't to ask Boeheim that FIRST. Hand raised like everyone else. They called me first. Knew it would be bad."
