Cowboys-Bengals Played As Scheduled; Extra Support Offered
Today's 1:00pm ET Cowboys-Bengals game in Cincinnati was played as scheduled in the wake of the death of Cowboys LB Jerry Brown. There was "no talk about the game being delayed or postponed." The Bengals have offered the Cowboys “extra security, grief counselors and any other assistance they need over the weekend” (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER, 12/9).
The Cowboys "canceled their annual Christmas party, scheduled for Monday at Cowboys Stadium, and instead plan on having a memorial service for Brown early next week" (ESPN.com, 12/9). Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones: "For the last few hours our focus has been on Jerry Brown. ... We all know but we remind ourselves that there is something more important than football and that’s life" (“FOX NFL Sunday,” FOX, 12/9).
