Taking Attendance: UCLA-Texas Sees Only 2,797 At Reliant Stadium

In a men's basketball match-up yesterday between UCLA and the Univ. of Texas at 43,000-seat Reliant Stadium, "only 2,797 people attended," and reporters on hand "insist that figure may have been generous" (SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 12/8).

An announced crowd of 69,607 fans were on hand yesterday for the Army-Navy game at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia (Baltimore SUN, 12/9).

Last night's UFC on Fox 5 in Seattle, which featured a lightweight championship bout between Benson Henderson and Nate Diaz, drew an announced crowd of 14,412 with a total gate of $1.52M. The crowd and gate "showed the appeal of this sport and Seattle's viability as a market" (SEATTLE TIMES, 12/9).
