Laugh Track: True Gritty

Comedy Central's David Spade noted Flyers' mascot Gritty “was accused of allegedly punching a 13-year-old boy after a hockey game.” Spade: “Sources are calling it the friendliest thing that happened in the history of Philadelphia sports.” Looking at a picture of Gritty, comedian Andrew Santino said, “This is like if Sesame Street made an STD character.” Spade asked “who’s under” the Gritty costume, “because you feel like it’s some ex-con that went to Hobby Lobby.” More Spade: “If you’ve ever thought, ‘How can I be in more debt,’ this story’s for you. ... StubHub is offering loans to buy Super Bowl tickets. Tickets are between $5,000 and $17,000 with interest rates between 10-30%, which means 30%.” Comedian Yamaneika Saunders: “This is where we are in America with priorities. If you have to get a loan to get Super Bowl tickets, you're an idiot.” Spade said if you "don’t pay" the loan back, “they send this guy to your door,” pointing to an image of Gritty (“Lights Out,” Comedy Central, 1/23).
