Epic Games Tabs IMG To Distribute Fortnite World Cup
IMG today will announce that Epic Games has appointed it to manage and distribute this weekend's Fortnite World Cup to 33 digital media partners around the world. The inaugural event is this weekend at the USTA's Arthur Ashe Stadium in N.Y., and Epic Games has stayed away from selling sponsorship or linear media rights to the competition. However, it was already set to be streamed on digital platforms like Twitch and Facebook, and IMG will now add other digital partners around the world. Additionally, Sport 24, an IMG-owned in-flight channel that is used by 13 airlines, will show the event. Endeavor started working with Epic around Fortnite in March '18, helping put on events and find licensing opportunities.
