Angels, Rangers Postpone Game After Death Of Tyler Skaggs

Last night's Angels-Rangers game was postponed after Angels P Tyler Skaggs was found dead in a Southlake, Texas, hotel room, and it is "uncertain if the teams will play" today. Rangers President of Baseball Operations & GM Jon Daniels in a brief press conference said, "Real life takes precedence." Southlake police said that they "responded to a call about an unresponsive male" at 2:18pm CT. Skaggs, 27, was "pronounced dead at the scene." Neither foul play nor suicide are suspected, but "no cause of death was listed." Angels officials "immediately notified MLB and league officials called Daniels" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 7/2). Yesterday's scheduled game will be made up in August, and Daniels said that there is a "chance another game will be postponed" (L.A. TIMES, 7/2).

Following the news, the Triple-A PCL Tacoma Rainiers announced that their home game last night against the Angels' Triple-A affiliate, the Salt Lake Bees, "would be rescheduled" for today at 5:05pm PT (Tacoma NEWS TRIBUNE, 7/2).
