The Broncos last night held a public event honoring late Owner Pat Bowlen at Broncos Stadium at Mile High, and "thousands of visitors toured an impressive display of Bowlen’s memorabilia and provided their condolences to six of Bowlen’s seven children who attended." Before the doors opened to the public, Broncos staff members "toured the displays." Broncos President of Football Operations & GM John Elway, Peyton Manning and former player Rod Smith were "among the early arrivals." The Broncos’ rookie class also "greeted the family." Bowlen’s funeral service is Monday in the Denver area, followed by a "second ceremony in his beloved Hawaii" (DENVER POST, 6/19).
The free event "drew more than 5,000 attendees." The team's expectations for the tribute "were exceeded as the line outside Broncos Stadium continued to grow" as the 3:00pm CT stop time "rolled past" (DENVER POST, 6/19).
