Blue Jays Expecting Big Crowds For Vlad Guerrero Jr.'s Debut

Highly touted Blue Jays prospect Vladimir Guerrero Jr. makes his debut with the team tonight against the A's, and the club is anticipating a "'significant bump' in walk-up ticket sales for the game, which could easily push attendance to more than 30,000." Through 12 home games this season, the Blue Jays have been averaging just shy of 20,000 at Rogers Centre. The gates at Rogers Centre usually open at 5:30pm ET for a 7:00pm game, but tonight, gates "will open an hour earlier." Even as large crowds are expected, two of the ballpark's gates are "shut down because of construction" (GLOBE & MAIL, 4/26).

Rogers Sportsnet will air a "one-hour pregame show" beginning at 6:00pm around Guerrero's debut, while the game also will be shown on MLB Network (TORONTO SUN, 4/26). Guerrero will also be featured as MLB's "Twitter Hitter" of the day, with each of his at-bats to be streamed on the social platform (THE DAILY).
